Introduction to Organic Farming Workshops

Working towards a sustainable food system for the San Diego region, we can educate ourselves, create, and deepen the intimate and healthful connections with our food sources.

San Diego Roots is proud to organize workshops and seminars with local farms and gardens geared towards education, outreach, and empowerment. Please see below for a list of previous and upcoming classes and further ways to get involved!

Previous Classes

The Introduction to Organic Farming Workshop Series was an 8-class series held over the course of 4 months from April through July at La Milpa Organica in Escondido. Through focused and flexible workshops, we covered the entirety of the basics of organic farming -- from composting to pest control to harvesting -- showing the full season’s cycle for both novice and experienced gardener-farmers. Our participants deepened their understanding of food production and completed the series empowered to teach others!
