What we accomplished in 2011

With your enthusiastic support, our second year at Wild Willow Farm & Education Center saw lots of growth and development in our programs and facility:

Programs

  1. Established the farm field trip program and had over 1000 participants

  2. Established a college-credit sustainable farming internship and taught 18+ interns

  3. Formed a partnership with SoCal Shrooms for mushroom growing and workshops

  4. Made the farm home to a large flock of chickens and ducks, and two friendly goats

  5. Became a Regional Garden Education Center and taught over 50 people in gardening basics

Your generosity is instrumental to helping us achieve our 2012 goals:

Programs: Host overnight "farm camp" field trips; develop off-site "farmer-to-school field trips;" expand our internship opportunities and job training.

Infrastructure: Expand our rainwater harvesting system; install irrigation for our young fruit orchard; build a new tool shed; create hedgerows and windbreaks; develop raptor perches, bat boxes and reptile habitats; take down some hoop houses to create room for organizational partners to develop extended garden education and training programs.

Staff: Develop paid "advanced internships" in farming and education; create the job "volunteer coordinator;" expand our Board of Directors.

Events: Host even more special events and provide opportunities for community members to host their own at the farm.
